 Seminary formation - some concerns and suggestions.... [Monday, 22nd September 2025]

Good morning, Andrews.

Hope, you are fine along with the formation personnel, the students on formation, other staff and bishop Pakiam.


Am always concerned and even worried about the integrity and credibility of priests in general and ours in particular.


You, being the responsible one for the formation in our diocese, i would love to share some possible experiments.


What about ensuring responsible freedom and accountability? Let's start with a very tangible, verifiable and necessary instrument like cash. 


Why don't we ensure that parents really 'sacrifice' their ward and share the expense, maybe foregoing some of their luxuries etc.


Let the students bring personal cash with a note from their parents along with an account book.


Let them start entering their receipts and expenditures, if possible with supportive bills and vouchers daily and be transparent before the rector or his delegate... 


And this has to be monitored effectively, if necessary with unexpected verifications. 

This would ensure freedom, accountability and transparency which is a sure sign and necessary part of 'perfection' (holiness) Jesus demanded of his disciples.


Keep a cordial and personal relationship with every student regularly, their parents, family and parish priests too. 


Let it be like Jesus living among his disciples. Let's be models in every way possible.

There is no benefit in worrying about the deviated and delinquent without providing them possible inspiring, challenging and living models.


Treat them respectfully and let's be respectful which is not to be demanded but commanded... 


This model in poverty would certainly reflect in their understanding and living of chastity and obedience too.


Let the seminary and the entire atmosphere be filled with an aura of love, friendship and sanctity. 

Let our prayer and Eucharist be inspiring and challenging...

Let our students in formation to become priests be nothing short of Jesus and let's emulate Him in every way possible.

 'സ്നേഹം ഒരിക്കലും അവസാനിക്കുന്നില്ല' I Cor 13:4-8 പ്രത്യാശയുടെ സന്ദേശം കൊച്ചുതുറ - 14.06.'25 അവസാനം - ആദ്യം എന്നത് സ്ഥല-കാല പ്രയോഗമാണ്. നമ്മുടെ ചിന്ത ഇവയിൽ അധിഷ്ഠിതമാണ്. നമുക്ക് എല്ലാറ്റിനും പരിമിതികൾ, അതിരുകൾ ഉണ്ട്. എന്നാൽ ഇവയ്ക്കെല്ലാം അതീതമായതാണ് ആത്മാവ്, ദൈവം (ആത്മൻ-ബ്രഹ്‌മൻ) എന്നിവയൊക്കെ. ഇവ അരൂപിയാണ്, ആദ്യാന്ധം ഇല്ലാത്തവയാണ്... ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള ദൈവം സ്നേഹമാണെന്ന്,  1യോഹ 4:8 പറയുന്നു. ദൈവത്തിന് ആദ്യവസാനം ഇല്ലാത്തതുപോലെ സ്നേഹത്തിനുമില്ലാതന്നെ... ദൈവം കാലാധീതൻ എന്നപോലെ സ്നേഹവും, അതെ. പൗലോസിന്റെ മാനസാന്തര...

  പൗലോസിന്റെ മാനസാന്തര... 25.01.2025 സുപ്രഭാതം. ഇന്ന് ഒരു 'ക്രൈസ്തവിക' (കത്തോലിക്ക)മായ ചിന്ത പങ്കുവയ്ക്കാം എന്ന് കരുതുന്നു, വിശേഷിച്ചും, ആരാധനാക്രമം അനുസരിച്ച് ഇന്ന് പൗലോസിന്റെ മാനസാന്തര തിരുനാളായതുകൊണ്ട് ... പഠന കാലത്ത് കേട്ട്, പിന്നീട് ബോധ്യപ്പെട്ട ഒരു പ്രസ്ഥാവനയിൽനിന്ന് തുടങ്ങട്ടെ: "What we have today is not Christianity but Paulianity.", അതായത്, ഇന്ന് നമക്കുള്ളത് ക്രൈസ്തവീകതയല്ല, പിന്നെയോ പൗലോസികതയാണ്! 'Jesus of history' and 'Christ of faith', അതായത് ചരിത്രത്തിലെ യേശുവും വിശ്വാസത്തിന്റെ ക്രിസ്തുവും എന്ന് രണ്ടു പഠന രീതി/ശാഖകൾ ഉണ്ട്. ഇതിലെ ആദ്യ വിഭാഗത്തിൽ, ഇപ്പോൾ വായിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന, Jose Antonio Pagola - യുടെ "Jesus - An Historical Approximation" എന്ന പുസ്തകം ഏറെ സംഭാവന ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. പൗലോസായി മാറിയ സാവൂൾ അവകാശപ്പെടുന്നതു പോലെ പണ്ഡിത ശിഷ്യനല്ല യേശു. തന്റെ പ്രദേശത്തെ സാധാരണക്കാരുടെ സംസാര ഭാഷയായ അരമായ ഭാഷല്ലാതെ പാണ്ടിത്യം അവകാശപ്പെടുന്നവരുടെ ഹെബ്രായ ഭാഷ പോലും ശരിക്കും അറിയാത്തവനാണ് അവിടുന്ന്. അവിടുന്ന് ജനിച്ചതും, വളർന്നതും, ജീവിച്ചതും...
