  Good morning. Let me share again some of my convictions which makes my life and ministry happy, possibly bringing the same to the people i serve. *'யான் பெற்ற இன்பம் பெறுக இவ்வையகம் '*: *Will of God...* This is what Jesus was seeking and it was indeed his mission and prayer even in the most distressful and dreaded times of his life, foreseeing his ignominious death preceded by the indescribable passion like the one at Gethsemane, making him to pray, "Abba, Father, all things are possible to thee; remove this cup from me; *yet not what I will, but what thou wilt*" (Mk 14: 36) and at the Cross, "he cried with a loud voice, "E'lo-i, E'lo-i, la'ma sabach-tha'ni?" which means, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" (Mk 15: 34). However, at last he entrusted his spirit with the same father whom he just had complained of having forsaken him, 'crying with a loud voice, "*Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit!*...

Who are you? Good morning, friends. Hope, you are all fine. Got the following forward message yesterday: Who am I? There is a doubting Thomas in me. If not, why be a Mar Thoma Nazrani? If I forget my call, I am nothing. I make mistakes. I am fragile. I fall, fail, fight, cry. I miss, I am late. Yet I sail storms, walk into unknown lands. I may be killed. Still—I will live. I doubted—but I touched His wounds. I questioned—but I found the Truth. I was late—but He waited for me. Not for pride. Not for titles. But to live, witness, die, and rise—through Him, with Him, in Him. He questioned at 12. He shattered hypocrisy. Let’s go and die with Him— for He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Light. Love. He dared to challenge the one everyone else seemed to believe as the risen Jesus. However, he needed further confirmation to accept and proclaim ...

  Dear friends, good evening. Today's 'The Hindu' carried an article in its editorial page, 'Concealing a judge's dissent, eroding judiciary's authority' by Suhrith Parthasarathy contending 'a judiciary that subjects itself to the same standards of openness it demands of others will only gain greater trust and confidence of the people.' I think this applies all the more to our leadership too. However, we may claim that we are not democratic but theocratic and on that count not accountable! However, of late, quite many of us have seemingly accepted the saying, 'errare humanum est' that is 'to err is human', by letting the 'infallibility' go... Transparency is the foremost gesture of holiness (Lev 19:2) to which we are called. It demands uncompromising accountability and responsibility... All along there is a clamour for Mass stipend accountability! However, it can't be partial in the matter of Mass stipend alone. Moreover, ...

 Seminary formation - some concerns and suggestions.... [Monday, 22nd September 2025] Good morning, Andrews. Hope, you are fine along with the formation personnel, the students on formation, other staff and bishop Pakiam. Am always concerned and even worried about the integrity and credibility of priests in general and ours in particular. You, being the responsible one for the formation in our diocese, i would love to share some possible experiments. What about ensuring responsible freedom and accountability? Let's start with a very tangible, verifiable and necessary instrument like cash.  Why don't we ensure that parents really 'sacrifice' their ward and share the expense, maybe foregoing some of their luxuries etc. Let the students bring personal cash with a note from their parents along with an account book. Let them start entering their receipts and expenditures, if possible with supportive bills and vouchers daily and be transparent before the rector or his delega...

  Reflections on our being and becoming... This would apply to our seminary formation onwards... Let me start with mine: I joined seminary in 1971 after my SSLC (11th Standard). Prior to that i was the only boy reader among the others  reading Holy Hour on Thursdays and 'Vanakkom' of St. Joseph every March in our church and to become one of the altar boys. There was no electricity other than in the church, rectory and two more houses. No radio, no newspaper, no bus... The only mode of transportation was the boat service through the AVM Canal between Thengapattanam and Poovar. Was not used to underwear even till i came to the seminary.  That was the boy i was to join the seminary.  Msgr. Gabriel D'Cruz, Fr. Martin Fernandez and Fr. Soosapakiam were the rector, procurator and prefect respectively. Though not really going hungry at home, life in the seminary was of regular rich food on time. Life rolled around the bell from 5 am to 10 pm. Rules like silent time and zone...

  Will of God... This is what Jesus was seeking and it was indeed his prayer in the most distressful and dreaded times of his life, foreseeing his possible ignominious death preceded by his indescribable passion like at Gethsemane and at crucifixion. His mother, Mary was his model as she accepted the humanly humiliating pregnancy before marriage as God's will. In his only prayer, 'Our Father...' he taught us to pray for the 'coming of His Kingdom' as well as the realization of His will. This will is nothing other than the primordial order, figuratively presented as the 'paradise', the garden of Eden. That would be the status of 'God's Kingdom'...  This primordial order, paradise was lost for humanity only as the rest of the creation is enjoying it, in spite of man's atrocious and avaricious plundering of nature to his own and unfortunately the helpless other creatures. This was seemingly caused by his attempt at eating the fruit of the tree o...

  God and the Father in heaven... God, never bothering to be described or defined, was taken for granted, presumed from the beginning of the Bible.  He was and is said to be the origin of everything, the provider and protector etc. However, He was kept far from ordinary people who are branded as sinners and hence, unworthy to approach Him,  making the mediation of priests necessary.  Maybe this God was a creation of priests from time immemorial. And this God needed to be kept pleased with offerings, sacrifices and rituals. But prophets rose to question this priestly, ritualistic approach and insist on His justice and mercy.  Thereafter kings came in support of the priests, even claiming priestly roles. This too was resisted by the prophets who were suppressed and oppressed jointly by the above two categories. Jesus came in the line of prophets as his Nazareth manifesto reveals (Lk 4:16-21) and as the Samaritan woman testifies (Jn 4:19) and the people have known ...

  വേദ പുസ്തകം ഒരു ചരിത്ര രചന യാണോ , ചരിത്ര സംഭവങ്ങൾ അവിടെ കാണാമെങ്കിലും,സാമാന്യ ബുദ്ധിക്ക്, യുക്തിക്ക്, നിരക്കുന്നതാണോ? 'ഭൗ‌തീകചരിത്രവും നിരീക്ഷണപരീക്ഷണങ്ങൾക്കു വിധേയമായ ശാസ്ത്ര സത്യങ്ങളും പഠിപ്പിക്കുകയല്ല ബൈബിളിന്റെ ലക്ഷ്യം.' (p. XIII, ആമുഖം, ബൈബിൾ, POC, Cochi, 2001). പ്രപഞ്ചവീക്ഷണം? പൗരണിക കാലം മുതൽ മനുഷ്യൻ നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളിൽ വ്യത്യാസം കണ്ടിരുന്നു, 'ചരിക്കുന്ന നക്ഷത്രങ്ങൾ' ഉൾപ്പെടെ. എന്നാൽ, നിക്കോളാസ് കോപ്പർണിക്കസ്, 1543, പിന്നീട്  ഗലിലെയോ, 1610, എന്നിവരാണ്, നമ്മുടെ ഭൂമിയല്ല ഗോളങ്ങ (planets) ളുടെ കേന്ദ്രമെന്നും, മറിച്ച് അത് സൂര്യ കേന്ദ്രീകൃതമെന്നും കണ്ടുപിടിച്ചത്.  ലോകം: വികസിക്കുന്നു, യാത്ര, പലായനങ്ങളിലൂടെ, കുടിയേറ്റങ്ങളിലൂടെ...  പൂർവ്വ കാലം മുതൽ മനുഷ്യർ ആറുകളും, നദികളും മറ്റ് ജലാശയ ങ്ങളുമൊക്കെ കടന്നിട്ടുണ്ടാവും. എന്നാൽ ക്രിസ്റ്റോഫർ കൊളമ്പസ്, 1492-ലും  വാസ്കോ ഡ ഗാമ 1498 - ലും സമുദ്രങ്ങൾ കടന്ന് കച്ചവടം, അതിനിവേഷം ഉൾപ്പെടെ തുടങ്ങിവച്ചു. ഇതൊന്നുമല്ല ബൈബിളിലെ ലോക, പ്രപഞ്ച വീക്ഷണം...   ബൈബിൾ ദൈവവചനം... ബൈബിൾ ദൈവവചനം എന്നാണ് പറയപ്പെടുന്നത്. എന്നാൽ ഇപ്പോൾ, 'As much Bible is the Word of God that much it is the word of man also.' എന്ന് സമ്മതിച്ചു തുടങ്ങിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. അങ്ങനെയെങ്കിൽ, ദൈവം ആരാണ്, എന്താണ്! എവിടെയാണ്! ഓരോ മതങ്ങൾക്ക് ഓരോ ദൈവം എങ്ങനെ? അവ/അവർ തമ്മിൽ ബന്ധമുണ്ടോ?  ദൈവം സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു, വിളിച്ചു, പറഞ്ഞു, ശപിച്ചു, ശിക്ഷിച്ചു എന്നെല്ലാം പറയുമ്പോൾ എന്താണ് മനസ്സിലാക്കേണ്ടത്?  മനുഷ്യർ തമ്മിലുള്ള ബന്ധങ്ങളെ, സംഭാഷണങ്ങളെ, ആജ്ഞകളെ, ശിക്ഷകളെ സ്ഥിരീകരിക്കാൻ, ശാശ്വദമാക്കാൻ,  'അതിലപ്പുറം ഇല്ല' എന്ന് വരുത്തിത്തീർ ക്കാൻ ഒരു അമാനുഷി ക പരിവേഷമായി ഏതോ അതിബുദ്ധിമാൻ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചതാവില്ലേ ഈ ദൈവം?  ഇതിന്റെ പിന്നിൽ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചവർക്ക് സ്വാർത്ഥ താല്പര്യങ്ങളുണ്ട്. അവ നിറവേറ്റാൻ നിസ്സഹായരായ, അജ്ഞാരായ മനുഷ്യരെ ഭയപ്പെടുത്തി, അടിച്ചമർത്തി, ചൂഷണം ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു ഇന്നും! താല്പര്യങ്ങൾക്ക് അതീതനാവേണ്ടതല്ലേ ദൈവം? താല്പര്യം, ആഗ്രഹം എല്ലാം ഏതോ ഒരു കുറവിന്റെ, ഇല്ലായ്മയുടെ, പോരായ്മയുടെ പശ്ചാത്തലത്തിലല്ലേ ഉണ്ടാവു. അങ്ങനെയുള്ള ഒന്ന് ദൈവമാകുന്നതെങ്ങനെ! ഉടമ്പാടി എന്നല്ല, മറ്റെന്തിന...

  പൗരോഹിത്യവും ഹെബ്രായർക്കുള്ള ലേഖനവും... നമ്മൾ സാധാരണ അവഗണിക്കുന്ന ആമുഖങ്ങളും 'ചരിത്രത്തിലൂടെ' എന്ന POC ബൈബിളിന്റെ അവസാന (p.391, 3rd Edition, 2001, POC, Kochi) ഭാഗവുമാണ് ഇങ്ങനെയൊരു കുറിപ്പിന് പ്രേരണന.  നമുക്ക് സുപരിചിതമായ AD (Anno Domini), BC (Before Christ) എന്നീ  കാലഗണനാപ്രയോഗം   ഇപ്പോൾ CE (Common Era), BCE (Before Common Era) എന്നാക്കിയിട്ടുള്ളത് ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടാവുമല്ലോ!  ഈജിപ്തിലെ മധ്യ രാജവംശം 2030-1720 കാലയളവിൽ ഉള്ളപ്പോഴാണ് 'ബി. സി. പത്തൊമ്പതാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിൽ സംഭവിച്ചെന്നു പൊതുവേ കരുതപ്പെടുന്ന അബ്രാഹത്തിന്റെ വിളിയാണ് (1850) ബൈബിളിലെ രക്ഷാചരിത്രത്തിന്റെ ആരംഭം...' (p. 1). ഇനി പുതിയ നിയമത്തിലേക്ക് വരുമ്പോൾ, 'യേശുവിന്റെ ജനനം 7-6?' (p. 393), കുരിശു മരണം 30?   Voice in the wilderness Good evening, friends. Hope, you are all fine. Don't think that i am  here again to 'sensitize'  you in vain with my 'negative' thoughts or criticism as one of us benignly commented... Our priestly 'fraternity's irresponsive, rather ignoring attitude is not new to me. Was experiencing this all along when i raise my concerns whether in the general body or in the Senate in which i was an elected member from the early eighties till i opted out once and for all during the corona period... 'A bird sings because it has a song to sing', so too i. Having the cause of and commitment to the Kingdom, impels me to raise concerns borne out of them and reinforced from my personal struggles as well as reading and reflection.  And i can't be insensitive and irresponsive to the unjust sufferings of people around, let what may come.  Though i keep aloof, of late, from public forums, i don't and won't keep silent if anything, inhum...
